Planning & Gas Projects

Planning Egypt's gas future and delivering the plants, pipelines and terminals that make it possible.

Planning

Built for scale, reliability and growth

EGAS forecasts demand, prepares the national gas balance and medium- and long-term plans, and turns them into a portfolio of projects delivered with our partners.

Coastal processing plants serving the Mediterranean fields, the Western Desert gas complex, two LNG export complexes, floating regasification at Ain Sokhna and the Arab Gas Pipeline together form an integrated system managed from a national control centre.

New processing capacity, pipeline loops and regional interconnections are planned in line with national development plans to support growing demand and Egypt's ambition to become a regional energy hub.

What we plan

From forecast to final investment decision

Planning links supply, demand and investment so that every project answers a real national need.

Demand forecasting

Sector-by-sector forecasts for power, industry, homes and transport.

Feasibility & FEED

Technical and economic studies that define scope, cost and schedule.

Project delivery

Tendering, contracting and supervision of construction through to commissioning.

Performance review

Post-project reviews that feed lessons into the next generation of projects.

Key facilities

Zohr onshore gas plant
01

Processing

Zohr onshore gas plant

Located near Port Said, the plant treats gas from the Zohr field before delivering it to the national grid.

Western Desert gas complex
02

Western Desert

Western Desert gas complex

Gathers production from Obaiyed, Badr El Din and dozens of other fields for delivery to Alexandria and the Delta.

Idku and Damietta LNG
03

Export

Idku and Damietta LNG

Two liquefaction complexes on the Mediterranean coast load LNG cargoes for Europe and Asia.

National grid expansion
04

Transmission

National grid expansion

Pipeline loops, compressor stations and new branches connect industrial zones, power plants and governorates still being reached by the grid.

Project lifecycle

How a gas project is delivered

01

Step 1

Identify

The gas balance and demand forecasts reveal a need for new capacity.

02

Step 2

Feasibility

Options are screened on technical, economic, safety and environmental grounds.

03

Step 3

Design & approval

Front-end engineering defines the project before the investment decision.

04

Step 4

Execution

Contractors build the facilities under EGAS and partner supervision.

05

Step 5

Handover

Commissioning, start-up and transfer to the operating company.
