Who We Are

Value Chain

From the reservoir to the customer — every link of Egypt's natural gas chain.

How it works

An integrated chain, managed as one system

Natural gas passes through many hands before it reaches a burner or a turbine. EGAS is the company that connects them.

Upstream, EGAS awards acreage and partners with international companies to find and produce gas. In the midstream, gas is treated and fed into the national grid. Downstream, it is delivered to power stations, industry, homes and vehicles — or liquefied for export.

Managing the chain as a single system lets EGAS balance supply and demand, plan infrastructure ahead of need and capture the full value of every cubic metre produced.

An integrated chain, managed as one system

Step by step

From discovery to delivery

01

Step 1

Exploration

Acreage is offered through international bid rounds and awarded under concession agreements.

02

Step 2

Development & production

Discoveries are developed by joint-venture companies formed by EGAS and its partners.

03

Step 3

Processing

Gas is treated to pipeline specification and valuable liquids such as condensate and LPG are recovered.

04

Step 4

Transmission

GASCO moves gas through the high-pressure national grid and compressor stations.

05

Step 5

Distribution

Distribution companies deliver gas to homes, shops, factories and CNG stations.

06

Step 6

LNG & export

Surplus gas is liquefied at Idku and Damietta, while regasification secures supply at peak demand.

Every link, in detail

Exploration & production
01

Upstream

Exploration & production

Gas is produced from deep-water fields in the Mediterranean, from the Nile Delta onshore and offshore, and from the Western Desert, in partnership with leading international companies.

Processing & transmission
02

Midstream

Processing & transmission

Processing plants prepare gas for the grid, and a network of high-pressure pipelines and compressor stations carries it from the coast to Upper Egypt.

Liquefaction & regasification
03

LNG

Liquefaction & regasification

Egypt is one of the few countries in the region with both LNG export plants and import capacity, giving it unusual flexibility to trade gas.

Customers & natural gas vehicles
04

Downstream

Customers & natural gas vehicles

Power generation is the largest consumer of gas in Egypt, followed by industry, households, commercial users and a growing fleet of natural gas vehicles.
