Projects & Activities
Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental Protection
Every employee and contractor home safe, every day — with operations that respect the environment we share.
HSE
Safety is the first condition of every operation
EGAS sets the HSE requirements for its own sites and follows up on their application across the subsidiaries, joint ventures and contractors that operate Egypt's gas facilities.
Our HSE sector works hand in hand with operations, projects and procurement. It reviews safety studies for new facilities, audits producing plants and pipelines, investigates incidents, monitors environmental compliance and builds a culture in which anyone can stop unsafe work.
The approach is aligned with Egyptian law and with recognised international practice such as the ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management-system standards, and it complements the HSE principles set out in our sustainability strategy.
HSE in the field
Occupational health
A healthy workforce in demanding environments
Offshore platforms, desert plants and compressor stations expose workers to noise, heat and chemicals. Periodic medical examinations, exposure monitoring and targeted awareness campaigns keep these risks under control.
Emergency response
Ready for the unexpected
Every facility maintains an emergency response plan linked to sector-wide crisis management. Drills simulate fires, gas releases and marine incidents so that teams, equipment and communication lines are proven before they are needed.
Contractor safety
One standard for everyone on site
Contractors perform much of the construction and maintenance work in the gas sector. They are held to the same rules as our own staff: permit-to-work, job safety analysis and stop-work authority apply to everyone.
Environment
Compliance from design to operation
Environmental impact assessments precede every new project, and operating sites are monitored for emissions, discharges and waste. Our wider climate and biodiversity commitments are set out in the sustainability strategy.
Contractor HSE
How we manage contractor safety
Step 1
Prequalification
Contractors are assessed on their HSE record, systems and competence before they can bid.
Step 2
HSE plan review
Each contract includes a job-specific HSE plan and risk assessment approved before mobilisation.
Step 3
Induction & permits
Workers receive site induction, and high-risk tasks proceed only under a valid permit-to-work.
Step 4
Monitoring & audit
Site inspections, audits and incident reporting track performance throughout the job.
Step 5
Evaluation
HSE performance is scored at close-out and feeds into future contractor selection.
No production target, schedule or cost saving is worth an injury. Safety is not a priority that changes — it is a value that does not.
