Development Opportunities

Discovered resources, tie-backs and brownfield projects that can reach production quickly.

Development

From discovery to first gas, faster

Not every opportunity starts with exploration risk. Discovered resources and mature fields close to existing facilities offer a faster, lower-risk path to production.

Egypt's gas provinces are served by processing plants, offshore platforms and a national grid that reaches every governorate. EGAS works with partners to bring discoveries on stream by tying them into this infrastructure, and to extend the life of producing fields through infill drilling, compression and recovery improvements.

Development opportunities are pursued through farm-ins with existing concession holders, new development leases, and agreements to upgrade or share infrastructure.

Opportunity types

Where development value lies

Discovered, undeveloped resources

Discoveries awaiting a development concept, partner or commercial agreement.

Subsea & onshore tie-backs

Connecting new wells and small fields to nearby platforms and processing plants.

Brownfield redevelopment

Infill drilling, workovers and compression to raise recovery from mature fields.

Near-field exploration

Low-risk prospects close to producing assets that extend plateau production.

Condensate & liquids

Projects that recover and add value to condensate and natural gas liquids.

Farm-ins & partnerships

Entry into existing concessions alongside current operators and EGAS.

Zohr: a benchmark for speed

Discovered by Eni in 2015, Zohr began production in December 2017 through the Petrobel joint venture — showing how close cooperation between EGAS and its partners can compress development timelines.

Tie-ins

Bringing new wells on stream

EGAS and its joint-venture operators prioritise connecting new wells and fields to existing production facilities, adding gas to the grid quickly and at low unit cost.

Pathway

How development opportunities progress

01

Step 1

Expression of interest

Contact EGAS with your areas of interest and capabilities.

02

Step 2

Technical review

Review available subsurface, facilities and production data under confidentiality.

03

Step 3

Development concept

Agree a development plan, infrastructure access and commercial terms.

04

Step 4

Approval & execution

Secure the development lease and approvals, then execute through the joint-venture operator.

The fastest gas to market is the gas closest to the infrastructure we already have.
